Tips for searching with Petfinder:

  • Make sure to check the “Include out of town pets” box on the left in Petfinder or you will not see all available dogs.
  • If you are searching for a particular dog, make sure to use their full name in the search bar to find them. For example, search on Hazel Mae and instead of Hazel.

ADOPTION SAVE LIVES Thank you for looking to welcome one of our great dogs into your heart and home! If you are interested in one of our loving rescues the adoption process begins with filling out the adoption application. You must be 24 or older and living in New England, NY, NJ, or PA to complete & submit the application. We do not place dogs as emotional support animals or as service/guide dogs.

We emphasize matching the right dog to the right family so that all will have many happy years together. The adoption application is the first step, and the fastest way to begin the process is submit your completed application.

What is included in your adoption fee

  • All dogs are spayed/neutered
  • Up to date on age appropriate vaccinations
  • Started on monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention
  • Starter bag of dog food
  • Martingale collar for safety
  • Complimentary Fi GPS tracking collar with 6 free months of service ($119 value)
  • 30 days of Met-Life Pet Insurance with discounted rates for continued service (Not available in RI, NH or NY due to state insurance legislation)
  • After adoption support from your Adoption Coordinator

ABOUT OUR PROCESS

To ensure safe and loving placement for every one of our rescues, we screen all of our applicants. Once the application has been reviewed, a Great Dog Volunteer will reach you for a phone interview, and check both vet and personal references. Then we’re ready to schedule a home visit for you and your new best friend, handle the adoption fee and sign a contract.
