Dizzie is a super cute 10 week old Border Collie mix who was rescued with her siblings after being part of an unwanted litter. She is a typical active, energetic puppy who loves playing outside, going for walk, and chomping on her toys. She loves to be cuddled and is really starting to appreciate a nice, long belly rub! Lacey #2 is a pretty 6 month old Shepherd mix who was rescued with her siblings after they were surrendered to a Great Dog volunteer. We don’t know much about the pups, except that they were born to a stray mom and until recently, only knew the feelings of survival and hunger. But no more. Lacey is adjusting to human contact and to life with a home, food, and love. She really likes to play and chase her sister around the house; she especially enjoys her chew and squeaky toys. Lacey can be a very affectionate young dog, but is still learning to trust and appreciate her human family. She likes to lie on the couch at night and chew on a rawhide bone and be petted. She loves to go for walks and be outdoors. Lacey has no experience living with small children so is recommended to a home with kids 8 years and up; she is fine with other dogs, untested with cats but young enough to be taught to live with them. She is crate trained and doing great with house breaking. She’s also doing well with basic commands (no, sit, stay). Lacey’s foster mom reports that she “is very proud of Cagney. He loves to play with his siblings and his other doggy pals – he especially enjoys treats and can be easily bribed with them Lou’s foster mom reports that Lou really is the hero in this story since he was the first to trust people and take treats from his foster mom’s hand. His siblings all followed Lou’s lead. If not for this type of positive progress, the pups may have been considered unadoptable. Thank God for Lou! Lou continues to learn to trust and appreciate the love and attention of people; he seems to have more quickly trusted the 4 and 5 year old children in his foster home than the adults, but he’s doing great with the adults too. He will need to continue to have lots of human socialization and positive experiences, but your effort will be rewarded with an unbreakable bond and a loyal friend and companion. Sassy is a sweet 9 month old Cattle Dog/Terrier (possibly Border Collie) mix with a gorgeous fur coat who was rescued just in time from a rural, high-kill shelter after she and her brother had been picked up as strays. She has a medium activity level; she loves to play with her doggy pals and her toys. Sassy is a friendly, social girl who has limited exposure to children, but is recommended to a home with kids 12 years and up since she has no direct experience living with small children; she is good with other dogs, untested with cats. She is crate trained and ready to master house training. Sassy is a happy dog who likes to run, play, and have fun. Curly (aka Puppy , to her foster mom) is a pretty 10 month old Chocolate Lab/Min Pin mix (mom was purebred Choc Lab, dad was a Min Pin mix) who was rescued after her owner’s home state determined the owner had too many dogs and they were going to put down all the dogs. Fortunately, we were able to rescue Curly before that happened. She is a super sweet girl, but also a little shy in new environments. She LOVES to be petted, though, so warms up quickly with a little loving. She especially likes to cuddle with you when she’s getting to know you — and a little treat doesn’t hurt either Curly has limited exposure to children as young as 1 year, but since she has no direct experience living with small children, is recommended to a home with kids 8 years and up. She adores other dogs and does great with her kitty foster siblings. Curly’s New England foster mom is teaching her to ring a bell when she needs to go out, and Curly is doing great; she is crate trained and learning sit and paw. Her foster mom describes her as “smart … she should learn quickly.” Curly is a super sweet dog who will thrive in a loving home with people who will help her grow to be a confident adult dog. Sam is a handsome 4 month old Lab mix who was rescued with his siblings after they had been abandoned in a box in a ditch. He is a typical active, high-energy puppy who loves to play. Sam has been in foster care since he was just 5 weeks old so is very well socialized with people; he gets along fine with other dogs, but is a little too curious about cats to live with them. He is not yet house broken but is crate trained so has a great start. Sam is a super sweet little guy who likes to be a lap dog.
